What is the Gallery?
The Gallery is a collection of ready-to-use art to be used in creating
illustrations for lessons. The art is organized by a variety of subjects.
There are two main categories: Backgrounds and Objects.
Backgrounds
Backgrounds can include urban or natural settings, patterns, designs, or
interiors like houses or buildings. They cover the entire background of an
illustration. Like the stage set of a drama, they remain fixed in place.
Objects
Objects include subjects like people, animals, objects, plants and so on.
Objects can be moved around and edited in an image block.
Why do we need a Gallery?
Even though drawing tools are part of the Lesson Builder program, a gallery
of ready-to-use art will enable people to create an illustrated lesson even
if they have no expert drawing ability.
How should the Gallery images be created?
One approach would be to use a photo reference (digital or scanned). Use a
vector-based drawing program to trace the image. This will allow the artist
to simplify the image into outline and flat color fills. For instructions,
The images should be saved in a vector graphic format (AI, EPS, SVG etc.)
(scalable vector graphic) format.
If the artist has good drawing skills, a reference image may not be needed.
Simply use a vector-based drawing program to draw the images, and save them in a vector graphic format.
Why do the gallery images need to be in a vector graphic format?
Vector graphics are small in file size compared with bitmapped graphics such a JPG
and GIF. Additionally, a vector graphic format can be edited more simply. These graphics can be scaled, color changed, or certain attribute of an object can be redrawn.
